The final LIBER Executive Board meeting of 2015 took place in Barcelona on the 15th and 16th of October.
CBUC kindly hosted the meeting at which the Executive Board looked back at LIBER activities in 2015 and looked forward to implementing a framework for activities over the next 2 years under the newly developed Strategic Directions.
Executive Board members have finalised the Strategic Directions. These will be announced in November 2015 and will be used as a framework for Steering Committees to plan their programme of activities until the end of 2017.
In 2016 the Executive Board will also begin work on developing the LIBER Strategy 2018-2022.
An implementation plan for the LIBER Advocacy Strategy was discussed at the meeting. LIBER will focus its advocacy activities on 4 key areas: Research Data Management (RDM), Copyright and Text and Data Mining (TDM), Open Access, and H2020/Research Infrastructure. Key messages will be developed for each of these areas. The Hague Declaration is continuing to gather signatories and LIBER will continue to promote it to the research community.
European Projects & Activities
Since the last Executive Board meeting in June the FutureTDM project has kicked-off. LIBER is leading the engagement work in this project to increase awareness and uptake of TDM activities in Europe.
LIBER Annual Conference
The results of the participants’ survey for the LIBER Annual Conference in London show a very high satisfaction rating, with nearly 95% of participants who responded rating the Conference as ‘good’ or ‘very good’. The theme for the Annual Conference in Helsinki 2016 will be announced in the November mailing to LIBER participants.
