Open science and its importance are gaining more and more attention.
A large part of the conversation however, still focuses on the level of awareness and encouragement. How can we help researchers go from awareness to actual implementation of open science in their own discipline?
The FOSTER Plus project builds on the existing FOSTER portal and training materials that were developed in the first FOSTER project. FOSTER Plus will develop more advanced-level and discipline-specific materials that support the practical adoption of open science.
Materials that will be delivered include a multi-module toolkit covering a range of topics: research data management, responsible research and innovation, and open peer review. The content will be co-developed with disciplinary partners in the life sciences, social sciences and humanities. In addition, the project will organize face-to-face training and workshops. A trainer bootcamp will equip young high potential researchers to deliver courses on open science within their own institution or discipline.
LIBER is involved in the workpackages on open science training and outreach and advocacy. Within these workpackages, LIBER leads the task of organising the open science trainer bootcamp and the trainers network and community engagement.
Our involvement falls under LIBER’s strategic Key Performance Area (KPA) Scholarly Communication & Research Infrastructures and is closely connected to the Reshaping the Research Library KPA.
