Lancaster University is a mid-sized research intense university in the North West of England. Hardy Schwamm joined the Research Services Team in the Library in early 2014.
As Research & Scholarly Communications Manager, he is responsible for leading on the implementation of the University’s Open Access policy, the adoption of Research Data Management best practices, the long-term preservation of valuable digital assets and the institutional provision of an academic research impact service. The latter involves the rollout of the citation action plan and the support of departments in the analysis of research metrics.
He also leads on collaboration projects with Jisc and library systems vendors.
Hardy is keen on all things Open, and on trying to engage researchers from all backgrounds.
Being involved in LIBER matters to me for two reasons. Firstly, exchange of knowledge among peers is very useful to improve our own services, get to know what works and doesn’t work in similar institutions and promote our own efforts to an international audience. Secondly, I find collaboration with peers from different backgrounds very satisfying and it contributes to my personal development as an information professional.
