18 April 2011, Göttingen, Germany – The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) is pleased to announce that a consulting agreement with Abby Clobridge, Clobridge Consulting, United States, has been signed.
Under this agreement, COAR and Clobridge Consulting will jointly develop and implement trategies to strenghen COAR’s visibility on an international scale and to support COAR in producing concrete products, such as COAR Guidelines, best practice reports and training programmes.
Norbert Lossau, Chair of the COAR Executive Board, said: “COAR aims to bring together digital repositories and professionals working in this field from around the world to enhance the visibility and application of research outputs. This collaboration with Abby Clobridge gives us a unique opportunity to further develop our profile and deliver products of high value for the community. Her experience and relationships will help us to accelerate our plans for international recognition and growth.”
Abby Clobridge added, “We are at a critical point in the development of Open Access policies and repository infrastructures on an international level. COAR is in a unique position to encourage sharing of best practices, support interoperability among repositories, and strengthen the repository profession as a whole. I am delighted to be joining the COAR team.”
The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) is a young association of repository initiatives launched in October of 2009, uniting over 80 members and partners from 24 countries from throughout Europe, Latin America, Asia, and North America. It mission is to enhance greater visibility and application of research outputs through global networks of Open Access digital repositories. Current activities are focused on advocating for Open Access repositories, their networks and repository based e-Infrastructure at the national and international level; supporting the development of repository content and repository interoperability; and providing support and training for repository professionals.
