LIBER Architecture Working Group (LAG)

Introduction

The LIBER Architecture Group (LAG) brings librarians together with building projects, and helps to focus concepts and planning processes.

As Working Groups are the primary units to conduct work on the LIBER strategy, ours will operate under the Steering Committee for the direction, Research Libraries as Engaged and Trusted Hubs, as defined in LIBER’s 2023-2027 Strategy.

The group furthers the exchange of experience between librarians and architects throughout Europe and attempts to raise the level of awareness of new projects and trends. This is done through our seminars, and via a digital database of Library Buildings in Europe documenting new buildings, renovations, refurbishments and extensions. The following LIBER Architecture Group Seminar 2024 will take place at the Royal Library of Belgium, in Brussels. The three-day event, starting on 24/04/2024 will look at library buildings as points of encounter between research, information, learning, heritage, and society, exploring the role of library design and architecture in creating engaged hubs.
