Susan will be responsible for undertaking the duties which have been assigned to LIBER in the context of 3 European projects. These duties mostly relate to communication and dissemination activities. Furthermore, the Project Officer will identify new funding opportunities and initiate project bids for LIBER and SPARC Europe members.
LIBER is currently involved in the following projects: ODE (promoting the exchange of primary research data), APARSEN (network of excellence in digital preservation) and Europeana Libraries (bringing in content of research libraries in Europeana).
Susan Reilly holds an MSc in Information Management from the University of Sheffield. Susan has several years experience working across a range of libraries. She has managed the Library service at the Irish Management Institute in Dublin. Susan’s interests range from digitisation, in particular how it can be exploited to support research and education, social media, library innovation and, most recently, information literacy. She has been responsible for the organisation of the British Business Schools Librarians’ Group Annual Conference 2009.
Susan says: “I strongly believe that good communication and leadership are key to successful projects. LIBER/SPARC Europe have an important role to play. Both membership organisations are catalysts and multipliers at the same time: they identify funding opportunities for their members and aim at a balanced representation of members. On the other hand, through their extensive networks LIBER/SPARC Europe can guarantee a maximal uptake of the projects amongst their members who are not directly involved”.
