DESCRIPTION: \nThis webinar is designed to discuss different approaches to Citizen Science by LIBER and ECSA Citizen Science Working Groups together with Leiden University, with the purpose of discovering synergies and potential opportunities for collaboration.\n \n During the webinar, speakers will cover:\n\nachievements in advancing Citizen Science at libraries and universities;\nthe organisation of Citizen Science activities in universities, including a Citizen Science ‘engine room’ at the University of Southern Denmark;\nhow to embed Citizen Science activities for research and education purposes through sharing best practices, policies, and ‘sharing’ programmes;\nfinding the ‘sweet spot’ for Citizen Science in the matrix of faculty silos, top-down research, and bottom-up collaboration.\n\n \nSpeakers\n\nTiberius Ignat, Director of Scientific Knowledge Services (SKS).\nAnne Kathrine Overgaard, Head of External Projects at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark.\nThomas Kaarsted, Deputy Library Director at the University of Southern Denmark.\nMargaret Gold, Coordinator of the Citizen Science Lab at Leiden University,\n\n \nREGISTER HERE\n\nPresentations and Biographies of Speakers \n \nTiberius Ignat\nPresentation Title: LIBER Citizen Science Working Group – A Short Introduction\nBiography:\nTiberius Ignat is the Director of Scientific Knowledge Services ( http://www.knowledge.services ), a company that specialises in helping research organisations to embrace new technologies and ways of working. He runs, in partnership with UCL Press and LIBER Europe, a successful series of workshops – Focus On Open Science ( https://www.focusopenscience.org/ ), now in its 7th year. After being a long-time individual member of the European Association of Research Libraries (LIBER), he became a LIBER Associate through his company where he is now the vice-chair of LIBER Citizen Science Working Group ( https://libereurope.eu/blog/2019/03/28/explore-citizen-science-join-libers-newest-working-group/ ).\nTiberius is a member of the European Citizen Science Association and Citizen Science Association (US) and a member of the Scientific Committee for OAI ( https://oai.events/ ), the CERN – Geneva University Workshop on open science.\nHe was part of the organising committee of the Sorbonne Declaration on Research Data Rights ( https://sorbonnedatadeclaration.eu/ ) and is currently doing research on internet tracking in a project which involves citizen scientists.\nTiberius Ignat has a personal interest in research communication and open science, particularly in citizen science and how open science could remain protected against unethical technologies.  He has a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Bucharest.\n\nAnne Kathrine Overgaard \nPresentation Title: Citizen Science at SDU: Organization, Theory, and Practice\nBiography:\nAnne Kathrine Overgaard is Head of External projects at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark. Together with Thomas Kaarsted she co-founded in 2017 the Citizen Science Network and in 2021 the Citizen Science Knowledge Centre at SDU. She is an Citizen Science advocate and has been project manager for a long range of Citizen Science projects especially within Health Sciences. She is also project manager for the ongoing work for the FN SDG’s at the Faculty of Health Sciences.\n\nThomas Kaarsted\nPresentation Title: The ECSA Working Group: Citizen Science and Universities\nBiography:\nThomas Kaarsted is Deputy Library Director at the University of Southern Denmark. Together with Anne Kathrine Overgaard he co-founded in 2017 the Citizen Science Network and in 2021 the Citizen Science Knowledge Centre at SDU. He is an Citizen Science advocate and has been project manager for a long range of Citizen Science projects as well as vice-chair of the SDU Citizen Science ‘Talentprogramme’. He is chairing the ECSA Working Group as well as being Vice-Chair of the LIBER CS WG.\n\nMargaret Gold\nPresentation Title: The Citizen Science Lab at Leiden University\nBiography:\nMargaret Gold is the Coordinator of the Citizen Science Lab at Leiden University, which is a project incubator and knowledge hub that brings together scientists, policymakers, citizens, and other stakeholders in participatory research projects that address scientific questions and urgent societal issues.\nMargaret is also CS Programme Manager for the National Programme Open Science (NPOS), where she is co-developing the Dutch national strategy for Citizen Science within the plan Open Science 2030.\nHer research focus within the ‘Science of Citizen Science’ is on Citizen Observatories for community-based environmental monitoring, and the impact they can have on policy, decision making, and behaviour change.\nHer decade of experience in Citizen Science includes leading the Crowdsourcing initiative for the transcription of digitally-imaged specimen labels within the Digital Collections Programme at the Natural History Museum in London, and the FP7-Infra funded SYNTHESYS3 project; leading ECSA’s involvement in the WeObserve and LandSense projects furthering the experience and knowledge base for Citizen Observatories, and in the  EU-Citizen.Science project, where she started as a Project Officer for ECSA and now leads the involvement of Leiden University and the establishment of the first Dutch national CS Network.\nMargaret has an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and an Honours BA in International Relations from the University of Windsor in Canada.\n \nREGISTER HERE.\n \n \n \n \n[Photo by Ryoji Iwata ( https://unsplash.com/@ryoji__iwata?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText ) on Unsplash ( https://unsplash.com/s/photos/people?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText )]\n
