SUMMARY:LIS’2015
DESCRIPTION:The Workshop on Classification and Subject Indexing in Library and Information Science (LIS’2015) will take place on 2-3 September, 2015. The event is being held in conjunction with the European Conference on Data Analysis (ECDA) at the University of Essex,Colchester, UK.\nThe Workshop on Library and Information Science (LIS’2015) solicits contributions on the role of classification and data analysis in this domain. Topics in these area include but are not limited to:\n\nClassification and subject indexing in the context of catalogs and resource discovery systems\nMethods, approaches and applications in subject indexing, classification and data analysis in different countries\nOpen Access to classification systems: How can we provide a sustainable classification infrastructure?\nLinked (subject) data (E.g. Faceted classification and Linked Data architectures: a happy alignment?)\nClassification, Subject indexing and the Semantic Web (E.g. Taxonomies and Semantic Web Ontologies: how closely are they related to each other?)\nAutomatic and manual methods in Classification and Subject indexing (E.g. Mappings, concordances, heuristics)\nClassification of research data\nSubject retrieval in multilingual and multicultural environments\nSerendipity in library collections and digital libraries\n\nThe workshop language is English.\nParticipants intending to present a talk are invited to submit an abstract via the conference website which will go live in January 2015. All abstracts will undergo a reviewing process.\nAccepted abstracts will be distributed to the conference participants. Accepted contributed and invited presentations at ECDA2015 will be published as post-conference peer-reviewed full papers in the open access e-journal Archives of Data Science. In addition a selected number of peer-reviewed papers will be published in a Special Issue of the Journal Advances in Data Analysis and Classification (ADAC).\nImportant Dates:\n\nJan 15, 2015: Registration and submission starts on conference webpage\nMay 15, 2015: Abstract submission deadline\nJune 30, 2015: Notification of acceptance of abstracts\nJuly 15, 2015: Early registration deadline\nSept 2-4, 2015: Conference\nOct 30, 2015: Full paper submission deadline for Archives of Data Science\nFeb 15, 2016 (tentative): Notification of acceptance for Archives of Data Science\n\nScientific Program Committee \n\nFrank Scholze, KIT Karlsruhe, Germany (Chair)\nEwald Brahms, Univ. Hildesheim, Germany\nAndreas Geyer-Schulz, KIT Karlsruhe, Germany\nStefan Gradmann, KU Leuven, Belgium\nMonika Lösse, German National Library Leipzig, Germany\nBernd Lorenz, FHÖV Munich, Germany\nMichael Mönnich, KIT Karlsruhe, Germany\nMagnus Pfeffer, HdM Stuttgart, Germany\nHeidrun Wiesenmüller, HdM Stuttgart, Germany\n\n
