We are happy to announce that Helen Frew has joined the LIBER team as our new Advocacy Officer.
Helen will work on European policy and advocacy, particularly in relation to text and data mining, copyright and open access. She will be the LIBER contact on the FutureTDM project which kicks-off this month.
Helen has a background in EU policy and has worked at the BMA, the European Parliament and as a Senior Policy Executive at Scotland Europa. Before joining the team she was a freelance consultant, helping organisations to engage with the EU institutions. She has an MA (Hons) in History from the University of Edinburgh.
Speaking about her role, Helen said: “These are exciting times. The creation of an EU wide digital single market is a European Commission priority and there are some great initiatives and opportunities for LIBER participants. With legislative proposals on copyright reform expected before the end of this year, it will be incredibly important to ensure that LIBER’s interests are met here.”
