LIBER is a strong supporter not only of Open Access but also of Open Science, including the open publication of research data.
For this reason it is very important that LIBER Quarterly (LQ) stimulates its authors to make the research data on which their publications are based available in open sustainable data repositories. From now on, we are offering our authors the possibility to store their data in storage, dedicated to LQ, inside the Harvard Dataverse repository.
A special advantage of this repository is that it provides a detailed strategy for versioning of the data. The guidelines also include instructions on how to make real ‘replication datasets’, by including the necessary environment of the data.
Authors can upload their data themselves, or they can leave this task to the editor of the journal, who is ultimately responsible for making the dataset(s) publicly available and inserting the necessary links within the LQ publication.
Please have a look at the real thing. You can find the “LQ Dataverse” at https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse/LQ
where you will see the first dataset linked to a paper that is going to be published in the next issue (26/3). Clicking on the title of the dataset shows that this one consists of two files: a text file and an Excel file.
