The LIBER Executive Board is very pleased to announce that, following its recent recruitment for a new Executive Director and interviews held in The Hague on 1 June 2017, Ms Astrid Verheusen has been appointed as LIBER Executive Director.
Ms Verheusen was appointed to the post of LIBER Interim Executive Director on 15 March 2017, and she is working full-time in the LIBER Office.
Educated in The Netherlands, Ms Verheusen has an MA in History from Leiden University, where she also undertook postgraduate studies. She also participated in LIBER’s ‘Emerging Leaders’ programme in 2011-2012.
Ms Verheusen has held a number of posts in the National Library of The Netherlands, most recently as Head of the Innovative Projects Department. She has extensive experience of collaborative projects and of working with EU Projects, and she has also headed up the National Library’s Digital Preservation and Digitisation Departments, as well as holding senior posts in IT and on the Library’s Digital Library Programme. Before joining the National Library, Ms Verheusen worked as a researcher in the Institute for Dutch History, and with SDU Publishers.
