Ania López is head of the group research and innovation at the University Library of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) since 2015. In addition, she coordinates the expert group of research data management among Universities of the German State North Rhine-Westphalia within the Digitale Hochschule NRW since 2016.
She holds a PhD in mathematics from University of Düsseldorf (Germany). After completing her PhD studies in 2008, she joined the University Library of Duisburg-Essen as a subject librarian for mathematics, electrical and civil engineering and has been responsible for several IT-projects within the University Library. She is a member of the executive team of the DINI-nestor-group of RDM in Germany.
Her current research interest lies in the management of research data, bibliometrics and metrics in general.
In the context of Digitalization of Science, scientific libraries have a big chance of developing themselves. This means rethinking of old patterns and habits and looking forward to new roles, tasks and responsibilities. For this, a collaboration across libraries as promoted by LIBER is essential. In this context, bibliometrics may play an important role.
