Athina first came to The Netherlands in order to pursue a master’s degree in Book and Digital Media at Leiden University. She originally comes from Thessaloniki, Greece where she also got her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature.
After working at the university library of Leiden she became enthusiastic about the academic library’s roles and responsibilities as well as its place in the ever-growing and changing academic environment. She is a firm supporter of Open Science and believes that the values and goals that LIBER has set represent the future for research libraries in Europe.
Her role in LIBER is an administrative one. Her tasks involve providing support for the Executive Board and the Executive Director as well as making sure that all services to LIBER libraries are maintained effectively.
LIBER for me provides a very exciting working environment where I get to communicate with and support research libraries from all over Europe. I believe that the work carried out by LIBER is essential as it brings libraries together and helps them to sustain and empower knowledge in innovative ways.
