Damiaan is a copyright expert at the University of Amsterdam.
Previously he was a law librarian at Leiden University Libraries. Prior to Leiden University he worked as copyright lawyer. He has completed five master’s degrees at University of Amsterdam.
Copyright reform is needed. The duration of copyright protection is too long. Exceptions related to research, education and cultural heritage should be mandatory for all member states. A specific exception for text and data mining for all research purposes is necessary.
