What is the aim of theJob Description Marketplace?
The job description is the first point of contact between libraries and potential new staff members. A great job description can help libraries attract the best qualified candidates and appropriately skilled staff are essential if libraries are to meet the challenges that come with a rapidly changing information landscape.
At the same time, with so many possible career paths in libraries, the education, experience and skills required also vary quite a bit from job to job. In this regard, LIBER, through its Leadership Programmes Working Group, has developed the Job Description Marketplace.
Who can use it?
The job descriptions in our directory can be used by managers looking for examples of positions and relevant skills. You are welcome to use the job descriptions as examples and we would be grateful if you share sample descriptions from your research libraries.
Can I apply to the jobs listed in the marketplace?
Please note that the job descriptions are provided as real examples but are not job vacancies. The marketplace is not a channel for job applications or recruitment.
