As President of LIBER, I am delighted that Leo has agreed to work with us at a time when the LIBER membership is growing and when LIBER activity is becoming more and more visible across Europe. It is an exciting time.
Of his appointment, Leo says: I was honoured to be asked for this temporary position at a time when LIBER’s role in the European library landscape is gaining in importance. I look forward to working with the LIBER Board, the membership and the staff, to keep the momentum going that has been achieved over the past years. Obviously, one of the important focal points for the Association in the near future will be our Conference in Tartu at the end of June. It will be a great pleasure to meet a big part of the LIBER membership there!
Leo will formally join LIBER as our Interim Director on 1 April 2012. There will be a handover period of 2 weeks when both he and Wouter Schallier, our current Director, will work together to secure a smooth and successful handover. Leo will work 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday)from the LIBER Secretariat’s Offices in the KB in The Hague.
On behalf of the LIBER Board, I welcome Leo as our new Interim Director. I look forward to working closely with him in the coming months.
