Joachim Spyns

Joachim Spyns (1986) is an advisor to the State Secretary for Science Policy of Belgium. He has a master’s degree in Contemporary History from University College Ghent (2009), an Executive Master in Digital Communications and Marketing from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (2017) and is currently enrolled as a Phd-student at the University of Antwerp at the department of Heritage Studies. His research focusses on new perspectives for Heritage Policies and the societal role of Collection- and Memory institutions, such as national libraries. He is currently seconded from the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) where he was responsible for user services and public outreach and a member of the KBR management team from 2017 to 2022. He is an alumni of the 5th LIBER Emerging Leaders- cohort (2022).
