Prof. Dr. Michael W. Mönnich is head of the public services department and deputy director of the Library of Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), Germany.
He studied chemistry and pharmacy at the universities of Zürich and Tübingen and later history of pharmacy and history at the university of Marburg. After he received his PhD in Heidelberg in 1989 he entered the higher library service at the University Library Karlsruhe. Specific areas of interest are library buildings, learning centers and work spaces in libraries. He has been involved in several building projects in Karlsruhe and is a member of the building commission of the German Library Association. He was appointed honorary professor at the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen where he teaches history of pharmacy.
