FESABID 2011 will be the stage for meetings and interaction between leading professionals from libraries, archives, information and documentation on a local, national and international level. Three events in one, which, under the subject “One profession, one future?”, will debate the great challenges of the profession and shape the trends for the coming years.
15 international speakers, amongst them are Bas Savenije, Dr Paul Ayris and Astrid van Wesenbeeck who will speak about Open Access.
Dr Ayris, LIBER President, will be keynote speaker at the session dedicated the Open Access. His paper will offer a strategic overview of key developments in Open Access in research, teaching and learning in Europe. The paper will offer a summary of current debate surrounding Professor John Houghton’s economic and financial modelling on Open Access approaches, look at LIBER’s DART-Europe portal which gives access to Open Access research theses from over 320 universities in nearly 20 European countries, and then offer insights into work which LERU (League of European Research Universities) undertook into Open Access in 2010.
