Call for a Volunteer – LIBER Strategy 2028-2032 Facilitator

Are you keen on working at a strategic level in an international environment for Europe’s largest research Library Association spanning more than 400 members in 40 countries? We are now looking for a passionate and engaged Facilitator to design the new LIBER Strategy and engage LIBER’s active European research library community through an interactive programme.

LIBER’s 5-year strategy builds on our mission to enable world class research and resonates the LIBER values collaboration and inclusivity. In the voluntary role of Facilitator, you work in the core of designing LIBER’s Strategy 2028 – 2032. The new strategy will be developed in close consultation with the LIBER community and international partner organisations.

Purpose

Developing LIBER’s strategy involves a comprehensive multi-year process that includes community engagement, Working Group activities, and iterative feedback from the LIBER community. The strategy development will be overseen by the LIBER Strategy Task Force with representatives from the LIBER Executive Board. The full process includes community engagement, input from partners, discussions in the Board, interim documents, and endorsement from the Board and the LIBER Meeting of Participants.

Charge

The Facilitator is tasked with coordinating the process to design the LIBER 2028 – 2032 strategy in close collaboration with the LIBER Strategy Task Force. The development of the 2028 – 2032 strategy will take place from November 2025 to December 2027.

Areas of Responsibility

As Facilitator you support the Task Force by proactively coordinating the process and securing the delivery of the Strategy within the given timelines. The Facilitator is responsible for:

  • preparing the strategic discussions of the Task Force
  • preparing and facilitating engagement with the LIBER community and partners
  • wrapping up the content produced during the different meetings
  • managing practical aspects of the task

The Facilitator works in close collaboration with the Strategy Task Force. As head of the office, the Executive Director will be in charge of the preparation of the operational implementation of the strategy.

Your profile

You are an experienced (project) coordinator working at a LIBER institution. We find it important that you:

  • Are well acquainted with LIBER as an organisation and the work we do
  • Have profound knowledge of the European research library landscape and are comfortable to work on a strategic level
  • Have experience in creative stakeholder engagement and engagement
  • Are sensitive to working in a network environment

The common language in LIBER is English however we welcome candidates from all parts of Europe.

Terms

The Facilitator serves a 2-year term from November 2025 to December 2027. The time commitment of the Facilitator varies from 4 – 8 hours per month throughout this period. The role of Facilitator is a voluntary and primarily a remote position. Occasional travel may required for on-site meetings.
