The Digital Scholarship and Digital Cultural Heritage Collections (DSDCH) Working Group will share some of the challenges members have been encountering with AI, and also invite you to join us for an adventurous workshop called ‘Generative Humans’, at LIBER 20226 in Trondheim, that explores the power we have to mediate automation & AI through cultural collections. We’ll then introducing some flagship initiatives and activities that the group has been involved with that aim to tackle the challenges we face with AI.

Hear about ‘Fantastic Futures 2025: AI Everywhere, All at Once’ – the annual global event from AI4LAM (Artificial Intelligence for Libraries, Archives, and Museums) that was hosted recently by the British Library. Then, a team from the University of Cambridge will introduce and demonstrate ArCH, the ‘AI for Cultural Heritage Hub’, that is the result of a research project aiming to address cultural heritage challenges. Finally, hear about the ‘Digital Scholarship & Data Science Topic Guides for Library Professionals (DS Topic Guides)’,  a major contribution from the DSDCH and Data Science in Library working groups aimed at ‘Upskilling the Library Workforce’ for the LIBER ‘Strategy 2023-2027’. The DS Topic Guides resource introduces many AI related concepts, methods and tools to library professionals, all written by colleagues from across the LIBER community in an approachable way and with library contexts in mind.

Speakers:
  • Andy Corrigan (University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives, and DSDCH Co-Chair)
  • Mia Ridge (British Library)
  • Amelie Roper (University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives)
  • Jennie Fletcher (University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives)

Participation is open and free to all. The webinar will be recorded.
