Andy Corrigan

Digital Library Co-ordinator, Cambridge University Libraries

Andy is a Digital Library Co-ordinator at Cambridge University Libraries, taking a lead on digital content analysis and engagement.

He is also an Associate at Cambridge Digital Humanities, where he gets involved in a broad range of projects and initiatives. He has a particular interest in the matrix and liminal intersections of technology, content, and experience. Andy has also worked on the Darwin Correspondence Project for several years, and has a background in archaeology, where he specialised in historic building survey and graphics, with a particular focus on the application of photography.

Andy also applies his expertise in visual literacy and digital collections to enrich digital content through the application of practice-based research methods and crowdsourcing. One such project, for example, instituted an effort to transcribe the notebooks of Oliver Rackham, and the Dimensions of Darwin project, which is exploring the potential of IIIF to push the boundaries of research and engagement with physically dispersed collections.

Andy took a lead role in the UKRI funded Walking with Constable project, where he began developing innovative embodied methods of engagement with digital content, and in 2023 he was awarded an AHRC-RLUK Professional Practice Fellowship. His research project, ‘Encountering Digital Collections’ has continued this development, advancing ‘Practical approaches to using digital collections in research and pedagogy’, and showcasing the role of libraries as a nexus for research and teaching.
