Emma Nolin

Head of the Department for Information Resources and Scholarly Publishing, Malmö University Library

Emma Nolin currently holds the position of Head of the Department for Information Resources and Scholarly Publishing at Malmö University Library in Sweden.

She has a background in the management of scholarly information resources and associated systems. Approximately fifteen years ago, she also contributed to the classification work for the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

In Sweden, the negotiation of publishing agreements is coordinated at a national level through a consortium representing all universities. Historically, these agreements have primarily taken the form of transformative arrangements (after the reading agreements); however, there is now a discernible shift towards models conceptualised as publishing-as-a-service. Malmö University Library actively supports a range of alternative publishing pathways, including Malmö University Press, a dedicated publication fund, Open Journal Systems (OJS), and Kriterium. The library benefits from a highly skilled team, and recent initiatives have included an investigation into the Open Access Citation Advantage, with the aim of analysing the correlation between open access and citation impact.
