Karin Rydving is the Assistant Director of the University of Oslo Library, specifically overseeing the Medical and Science Library.
She holds a Master’s degree in the Management of Library and Information Institutions, as well as a Master of Arts in Language Education. With a career in university libraries spanning more than a decade, Karin has gained diverse experience in library leadership, having served as the manager of the Department for Research and Education Support, Special Collections, and Digital Systems and Services. Her work places a strong emphasis on organisational development and change management, and she is currently involved in the LIBER Taskforce on Artificial Intelligence.
Karin has represented her institution on various local and national committees and steering groups, including those focused on Research Data Management, the National Science Archive, and Library Systems. She has fostered collaborations with scholars on digitisation efforts and the development of systems for sharing cultural heritage. Under the Open Science framework, she has a particular interest in Research Data Services. Her initiatives in digitising physical resources have facilitated the creation of new services and partnerships across multiple projects.
Before her academic career, Karin held leadership positions in various telecommunications companies, where she specialised in customer service and technical management.
