The Next LIBER Strategy: Co-Creation Workshop for LIBER Participants

We call upon LIBER Participants to join us at our upcoming Strategy Workshop taking place on the 9th of December at 15:00 (CET). During this session, you’ll be able to provide input on our future strategy. You can view the details as well as the programme outlined below. We greatly appreciate your contribution to the development of the new LIBER strategy and we look forward to seeing you then! 

 

Background Information to the LIBER 2023-2027 Strategy Development

The LIBER Strategy development for the year 2023-2027 will take place in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Development of the strategy framework
  • Phase 2: Development of the LIBER strategy plan
  • Phase 3: Development of implementation plans by the Steering Committees and the Working Groups

Phase 1 has led to the LIBER strategy framework. In Phase 2, we are seeking input from LIBER participants to prepare the Strategy plan (Phase 2) and pave the way for the development of implementation plans in Phase 3.

The Objective of the Workshop

The objective is to make the strategic priorities of the LIBER strategy framework more concrete and actionable.

 

Before the Workshop

Registered participants will, in advance, receive a short document describing the LIBER strategy framework and the agenda proposal.

15.00 – 15.20    Welcome and short presentation of the LIBER Strategy Framework (member Task Force)

15.20 – 15.30    Explanation of the objectives per breakout group (Maurits van der Graaf)

15.30 – 16.15    Breakout groups

16.15– 16.25     Break

16.25 – 17.00    Plenary discussion with moderator.

1.     Engaged & trusted hubs Objective breakout groups
1.1   Stimulating communication and collaboration: strengthening the positioning of research libraries in the networked environment and leveraging their collaborative strength by (1) telling the ‘story’ of the research libraries’ unique values, services and spaces, and its actual and future roles, (2) helping libraries in networking & collaborating with its stakeholders by sharing practices and convening action (3) continuing advocacy by LIBER.

1.2   Advancing the open knowledge society: stimulating research libraries to build a bridge to society, strengthen public engagement (with Citizen Science as an element), helping academic institutions re-define their societal role in the making and exchange of knowledge. 2.     State-of-the-art services
2.1   Orientation on service development and new technologies: LIBER can help with the orientation and evaluation of the possibilities of new technologies for library services and library users.

2.2   Revaluing and reconnecting collections:(1) opening up and safeguarding (born-) digital collections for future use; (2) integrating collections in the workflows of researchers; (3) connecting academic heritage collections with collections of the wider GLAM sector.

3       Advancing open science
3.1   Innovative roads to Open Access: Facilitating multiple, innovative roads to Open Access. This builds on actual work by LIBER. What is needed to bring this to a next level?
3.2   FAIR research data by design: Supporting and advocating the collaborative development, and management of FAIR research data. This builds on actual work by LIBER. What is needed to bring this to a next level?
3.3   Shaping and supporting Open Science policies and practices: Transforming good practices into policies and policies into good practices. This builds on actual work by LIBER. What is needed to bring this to a next level?
3.4   Opening up access to educational resources: Supporting the creation, access, and usage of Open Educational Resources. This builds on actual work by LIBER. What is needed to bring this to a next level?
3.5   Research assessment: Partnering with academia to advance, adopt and implement responsible frameworks for research assessment.
