The LIBER Executive Board held its first meeting of the year in Patras in Greece on the 25th and 26th of February.

LIBER Strategy 2018-22

At the meeting, Board members took the first steps towards developing the LIBER Strategy for 2018-22. Over the course of the two-day meeting, the Board brainstormed and discussed the environmental factors influencing the direction of research and their vision for research libraries in 2022. The plan is to take this discussion forward at the LIBER Annual Conference in Helsinki at a world café style event with LIBER participants.

Plans for 2016

Plans for the implementation of the current Strategy and Strategic Directions were also discussed and approved. New activities for 2016 include the launch of an open access working group, a metrics working group and the organisation of a second Leadership Journées programme for library directors in 2017.

Looking Back on 2015

A new infographic illustrating LIBER’s achievements in 2015 was presented to the Board and will be distributed to participants in the coming weeks.

The Autumn survey of LIBER participants was also discussed. The feedback from the survey was overwhelmingly positive but there are some steps that can be taken to strengthen LIBER communication channels and a plan for addressing this will be presented to LIBER participants in Helsinki.

Following the successful conclusion of the meeting our hosts, the University of Patras, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LIBER to host the 46th LIBER Annual Conference in 2017.
