Call for Copyeditor – LIBER Quarterly
LIBER Quarterly (LQ), the peer-reviewed diamond open access journal of LIBER, the Association of European Research Libraries, is seeking to appoint additional copyeditors to join its editorial team.
This is an opportunity to contribute to one of Europe’s leading journals in research librarianship and develop experience with our diamond open access publishing workflow.
About LIBER Quarterly
LIBER Quarterly publishes high-quality open access scholarship on all aspects of modern research librarianship. The journal seeks to bridge the gap between Library and Information Science researchers and professional practitioners by publishing both theoretical contributions and examples of good practice.
The journal publishes approximately 15–20 papers per year via a continuous publication model and is supported by an Editorial Board, Managing Editor, and Copyediting team.
About the Role
As a copyeditor, you will work closely with the Managing Editor and Editorial Board to ensure that accepted manuscripts are prepared for publication to a high editorial standard. You will support authors in refining their work for publication while maintaining consistency, readability, and adherence to journal style.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Copyedit accepted manuscripts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, clarity, and consistency;
- Ensure manuscripts conform to LIBER Quarterly house style and formatting requirements;
- Liaise with authors where clarification or amendments are required during copyediting;
- Review references, citations, and metadata for consistency and completeness;
- Support the editorial team in preparing final manuscripts for publication;
- Contribute to the ongoing development of editorial workflows and documentation where appropriate.
Your Profile
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent written English and strong editorial/copyediting skills;
- Experience editing academic, scholarly, or professional publications;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality;
- Familiarity with scholarly publishing, open access, or journal workflows;
- Ability to manage workload independently and communicate effectively in a remote team;
- Affinity with LIBER’s mission and values.
Experience in Library and Information Science, scholarly communication, or academic publishing would be advantageous but is not essential.
Commitment
This is a voluntary, part-time role, with workload fluctuating throughout the year depending on publication activity. The role is suitable for someone seeking to broaden their editorial experience, contribute to the profession, and engage with the European research library community.
