LIBER Meets with the Vice-President of the European Commission
On Tuesday November 3rd a small delegation from LIBER including Executive Director Susan Reilly and Executive Board Member Martin Hallik, and led by LIBER President, Kristiina Hormia-Poutanen, met with Vice-President of the European Commission, Andrus Ansip.
The Vice-President is responsible for leading the Digital Single Market project.
Launched on the same day as the Hague Declaration on Knowledge Discovery in the Digital Age (6 May 2015), the Digital Single Market Strategy makes mention of the innovative potential of commercial and non-commercial text and data mining (TDM) research and the need for greater legal certainty for researchers wishing to deploy these technologies on copyright content.
Six months on from the launch of the Digital Single Market Strategy, LIBER met with Vice=President Ansip to discuss the Commission’s work on creating greater legal certainty for the cross-border use of content for specific purposes such as TDM and to share our views and TDM case studies.
