LIBER Signs Copyright Reform Position Paper
LIBER — along with other European library and cultural heritage organisations — has released a position paper ahead of the European Commission’s upcoming proposals on reforming the current copyright framework (expected in autumn 2016).
The paper sets out recommendations for copyright reform, including:
- Further harmonisation of exceptions and limitations related to libraries, education and research;
- A clear exception for text and data mining;
- Greater protection for library users’ rights against technological measures or contract terms that otherwise restrict them.
