New Partnerships With CLARIN ERIC, DARIAH
LIBER has signed two new Memoranda of Understanding, with CLARIN ERIC and with DARIAH-EU.
Both organisations serve humanities scholars.
CLARIN stands for “Common Language Resources and Technology lnfrastructure”. CLARIN is a research infrastructure that was initiated from the vision that all digital language resources and tools, from Europe and beyond, are accessible through a single sign-on online environment for the support of researchers in the humanities and social sciences.
DARIAH is a pan-european infrastructure for arts and humanities scholars working with computational methods. lt supports digital research as well as the teaching of digital research methods.
They share objectives with LIBER through their desire to promote the use of digital collections and digital techniques.
Together, LIBER, CLARIN ERIC and DARIAH-EU recognize the need to enhance competencies, knowledge exchange and skills for the use and management of language and humanities research data, ICT methods and technologies, including scientific information infrastructures such as CLARIN and DARIAH-EU.
They also want to collectively encourage and support libraries as they build up new service roles and engage in research processes to take forward digital scholarship in the social sciences and humanities.
