DST4L: Data Science 4 Librarians

What is the role of the librarian in the Digital Age? Will it evolve? And how?

Is Data Science a niche that is underexplored, and a service that can make librarians even more indispensable to research institutions, and diffuse the separation between researcher and librarian?

The training will take a hands-on approach, where attendees will walk through steps within the research data life-cycle. The hands-on experience is intended to provide attendees with a better understanding of how the research community currently works with the added benefit of learning the latest tools, methodologies and techniques that are used. The focus of the program is to better equip librarians, who are particularly adept at providing research data services, to better understand their research communities, tailor their data services accordingly and become data savvy partners in the process.

Confirmed Speakers:
• Chris Erdmann, Head Librarian, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
• Lars Holm Nielsen, Zenodo.org
