Who is the event for?

Step into a world where visionary ideas blend with real-world library transformations.

At LIBER LAG 2024, library professionals embarking on visionary building projects refine their concepts and planning blueprints. LIBER LAG is dedicated to nurturing a dialogue between librarians and architects throughout Europe.

Theme & Topics

This year, the Seminar will follow the theme: “Building Bridges: Libraries as Engaged and Trusted Hubs.” More than a theme, this is a call to action, an invitation to be part of LIBER’s mission to redefine the role of libraries in society. The theme will explore how libraries are evolving into dynamic hubs of engagement, trust, and community integration.

More than 20 innovative projects from all over Europe will be showcased and discussed through keynote interventions, workshops and panel discussion. As the seminar will be focusing on new trends in architecture and design, topics such as inclusivity, community engagement and sustainability will be high on the agenda.

The seminar will be the opportunity for attendees to exchange with people within the field who are undergoing the same changes and challenges in terms of building. This will also be the occasion to network and bring inspiration back home.

Venue

LIBER LAG Seminar 2024 will take place at KBR (Royal Library of Belgium) in Brussels, Belgium. An exceptional location in the cultural center of Brussels, capital of Belgium.

As the country’s national library, KBR collects all Belgian publications and counts more than 8 million documents. We preserve, manage and study a rich cultural and historical heritage. Our is mission is to provide the public with access to information, facilitate research and offer a broad cultural experience.

Preserving a heritage collection of 8 million documents and making it accessible to the public is hard work. That is why we have specialists in restoration and digitisation on call. Since 2020, KBR also owns its museum. It displays a national treasure: the Library of the Dukes of Burgundy and its fabulous collection of 15th century manuscripts.

KBR welcomes the LIBER LAG Seminar 2024 in a particularly relevant period for the institution as it will itself soon undergo major building changes with the renovation of its Reading Room.

Besides being a central place for the preservation of Belgian’s cultural and historical heritage, KBR offers event and meeting spaces in the heart of Brussels. The elegant and professional meeting spaces, its central location and the number of cultural activities in the area make for the perfect venue for events, meetings, conferences, presentations, trainings or workshops.
