Head of Collection Information and Archive, Rijksmuseum, The Netherlands

Coen Wilders serves as the Head of Collection Information and Archive within the Research Services department at the Rijksmuseum in the Netherlands. He earned his Ph.D. in early modern Dutch history in 2010. Over the years, he has managed various teams of information specialists supporting research, with a particular focus on open science and scholarship. In the Rijksmuseum, he and his team are dedicated to making information and data about the museum’s collection FAIR. This effort stems from the diverse and extensive research conducted within the museum. Prior to his role at the Rijksmuseum, he held the position of Head of Academic Services at Utrecht University Library.

Coen participated in the LIBER leadership program’s sixth cohort (2022-2023). His interest lies in understanding the leadership demands posed by open science and scholarship, spanning from individual to organizational levels. He is particularly enthusiastic about exploring how an organizational culture can be fostered from a leadership perspective which supports open science and scholarship. As a member of the LIBER working group, Coen likes to engage with diverse European perspectives on this matter.
