Dagnija Baltina

Director of Special Collections Department, National Library of Latvia

Dagnija is Director of the Special Collections Department at the National Library of Latvia.

From 2008 until 2016 she served as the Secretary General at the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO and from 2009-2011 also represented the Republic of Latvia at the UNESCO Executive Board being elected its Vice-President.

She is interested in cultural heritage normative frameworks, national strategies for integrated heritage preservation, documentary heritage conceptual and theoretical frameworks, cultural diplomacy and cultural policy, changing capacities of special collections at national libraries that bridge roles often associated with museums with roles associated with major research libraries.
