Birgit is Head of Knowledge Commons at Göttingen State and University Library, with a focus on policies, e-infrastructures and training. In addition, she contributes to several international committees as a co-chair or group member (e.g. in the context of LIBER, the Research Data Alliance, Knowledge Exchange and formerly the Belmont Forum). Previously, she was Scientific Manager of the European OpenAIRE project and Executive Director of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR). Her background is in Mathematics and Philosophy, with a postgraduate degree in Library and Information Science.

Over the last decade, she has contributed to several exciting Open Science projects/initiatives and have linked these to institutional services and policies. Most recently, she initiated an Open Science Göttingen Meetup which brings together committed researchers and librarians.

It is a great pleasure to work closely with colleagues from other libraries and LIBER provides an excellent platform for exchange and collaboration, in particular through its Steering Committees and working groups.
