Dr. Eleonora Gandolfi

Associate Director (Research & Innovation), University of Surrey Library

Eleonora works as Associate Director (Research & Innovation) at the University of Surrey Library focusing on the application and experimentation of multimodal and sustainable engagement with Library/Archive’s collections to surface hidden narratives, enrich existing records and co-create new collections with different audiences. 

Prior to joining Surrey, Eleonora held the position of Head of Digital Scholarship and Innovation at the University of Southampton Library where she contributed to the establishment of the Digital Humanities Hub via the library-faculty partnership and led the Reimagining knitting project funded by AHRC, looking at exploring hidden narratives with local communities with the aid of new technologies.   

Eleonora holds a BA in Management and Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology from the University of Bologna (Italy), an MSc in Computing Archaeology from the University of Southampton, a PhD in Digital Cultural Heritage from King’s College London. She was also the recipient of a RLUK/TNA Professional Fellowship, exploring the use of AI and data mining to surface heritage citations.  

Eleonora is a member of the LIBER Digital Scholarship and Digital Cultural Heritage Collections (DSDCH) Working Group.
