Lisa Bird

Lisa Bird is the Head of Copyright and Licensing (Acting) at the University of Birmingham.

She has been an active member of the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians including being Chair of their Professional Development Committee. Lisa has published several journal articles related to education, technology, and widening participation. This includes her co‑authored article ‘Developing text and data mining (TDM) support within a university research library’ which was published in ‘Insights’ (2024), documenting the University of Birmingham’s approach to building sustainable TDM services in response to researcher demand and evolving copyright law. 

Lisa has presented widely on copyright and supporting researchers with AI literacy, including at sector events such as ‘UKSG Annual Conference’ and ‘LILAC’, and as a speaker at the ‘Librarian Futures Virtual Summit’, where she has shared case studies on supporting responsible use of AI tools in academic research and developing evaluative frameworks for researchers. 

She is a member of the LIBER Digital Scholarship and Digital Cultural Heritage Collections (DSDCH) Working Group.
