Lucinda Jones

Library director, Erasmus University Rotterdam

Lucinda Jones is the Librarian for the Erasmus University of Rotterdam (EUR) in the Netherlands.

Her key focus is on making knowledge accessible to all. She champions all aspects of open scholarly communications and plays a keen role in establishing equitable scholarly publishing models as the norm in the Netherlands. She concentrates not only on infrastructural aspects to achieve this goal, but also on copyright issues, policy frameworks and publishers’ contracts. Furthermore, she pushes to make EUR’s academic heritage findable, visible and (re)usable to a broader public by actively participating in projects with cultural heritage organisations.
Lucinda is a member of the UKB Board (UKB is the consortium of Dutch university libraries and the Royal Library) responsible for open scholarly communications and open science, and chairs various steering committees of national open science projects committed to diversifying open access publishing and encouraging open metadata. She is also a member of the board of SAE (Foundation for Academic Heritage), that acts as a network for heritage managers at universities, secures funding for joint initiatives and represents the interests of academic heritage within the policy sphere of universities.
