Matias Frosterus is chair of LIBER’s Linked Open Data Working Group, and works as an information systems manager at the National Library of Finland. His main responsibility is coordinating and developing the big picture of the National Library’s metadata services including the national thesaurus and ontology service Finto.
Finto provides a centralized repository of various machine-readable and interlinked vocabularies used in building national-level semantic interoperability. He previously worked in the Aalto University researching semantic technologies and now the Finto service is realizing those results.
This year Matias also hopes to finish his PhD on fusing legacy content with the semantic web.
The meaning of data is its most important quality and retaining that meaning when publishing and utilizing linked open data is absolutely paramount.
