Michael holds a degree in Chemistry and Philosophy from the University of Vienna.

He started working as a data steward team in October 2022 at the Center for Microbiology and Environmental System Science after several years as a researcher. Since February 2025 Michael coordinates the data stewardship program at the University of Vienna. Together with a team of embedded data stewards, he develops needs-based Research Data Management services for researchers and students. He leads the certificate course “Data Steward” – the first further education programme for data stewards in Austria.

In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his partner Franzi and their amazing dog Ziri in the woods around Vienna.
