2025 Call for Nominations to LIBER’s Executive Board
Are you a passionate research librarian who is committed to advancing the work of research libraries across Europe? Are you interested in LIBER’s work and have ideas for shaping the organisation’s future strategic priorities?
In 2025, there will be four vacancies in the LIBER Executive Board, and we hereby invite LIBER members to nominate candidates for the Board. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and active group of library professionals, to network, exchange best practices and share your expertise with library leaders within Europe and globally. The appointments will be made during the Meeting of Participants in July 2025.
LIBER Executive Board is composed of senior library professionals from our member institutions. Our board members are active in setting LIBER’s strategic priorities, advancing the organisation’s mission to enable world-class research and committed to furthering and advocating the work of European research libraries.
LIBER Executive Board Members serve a 2-year term and can be reappointed twice. LIBER Board Members are active in several roles, such as Steering Committee Chair for one of our strategic goals. In 2025, the role of Treasurer of LIBER will also become vacant and after the elections, the Executive Board will seek to fulfil this role within the then Executive Board Members. We therefore encourage candidates with an affinity for finances and business acumen to apply.

Nomination Process
Board Member Appointments are open to nominated candidates in all current LIBER Libraries from the Institution and Organisation categories. Candidates may be proposed by the nominee’s home library or by another LIBER library. The consent of the candidate should be obtained by the proposer in all cases before a nomination is submitted. Candidates from current LIBER libraries can also nominate themselves with the support of a proposer.
All eligible candidates for the 2025 nominations are invited to submit the completed Nomination Form, along with the required documentation to LIBER Secretary-General Anja Smit (anja.smit@dans.knaw.nl) by Friday, 16 May 2025 at 23:59 CEST.
LIBER aims to be inclusive, representing participating libraries and organisations across Europe. Nominees from areas that are not represented in the LIBER Board are invited and therefore particularly welcome, including nominations from younger candidates. This call is issued in accordance with the Statutes and the Rules and Regulations of the LIBER (Stichting) Foundation.
