LIBER Winter Event 2022 – Report

Posted: 08-12-2022 Topics: LIBER Winter Event Events

LIBER’s first winter event was hosted at VU Amsterdam, over two days on December 1st and 2nd, 2022. Around 100 attendees from our member libraries and project partners all over Europe came together to discuss the most important topics for research libraries.

The programme was built on a series of workshops organised exclusively by LIBER Working Groups and International Projects. As a result, interaction and engagement between attendees was at the heart of the event.

Read here the opening and closing address of the Winter Event 2022 by LIBER President, Julien Roche.

Participants enjoyed sessions on Citizen Science, open peer review, federated identity management, architecture in libraries and digital cultural heritage. The interactive workshops helped share knowledge amongst the LIBER community, but also obtained valuable feedback for the future activities of the LIBER working groups and projects.

The event also served as a platform to strategise; in an interactive plenary session participants looked back at the aims of the previous LIBER strategy before being presented a fresh set of strategic goals for the next few years. The brand-new LIBER strategy for 2023-2027 is now published online.

In a more intimate atmosphere to the LIBER Annual Conference, the first-ever LIBER Winter allowed our core participants the chance to meet, discuss and collaborate on the topics most dear to the research library community. The event also marked the beginning of the new LIBER strategy, which will come into force in the New Year.

After the success of the first-ever Winter Event, we are already looking forward to the next installment which will take place in the winter of 2023 (date to be confirmed) at the European University Institute, Florence, Italy. We can’t wait to see you there!
