Innovative Scholarly Communication

Open science is gaining more and more attention but a large part of the conversation still focuses on the level of awareness and encouragement. How can we help researchers to start implementing open science in their own disciplines?

LIBER’s Role

LIBER is involved in work packages on Open Science training, outreach and advocacy. In particular, LIBER leads the task of organising an Open Science Trainer Bootcamp, a trainers network and community engagement. LIBER’s involvement in FOSTER Plus relates to the Innovative Scholarly Communications section of our Strategy.

The Project

The FOSTER Plus project:

  • Builds on the existing FOSTER portal and training materials that were developed in the first FOSTER project.
  • Will develop more advanced-level and discipline-specific materials that support the practical adoption of open science.

Outcomes will include:

  • Multi-module toolkit covering a range of topics: research data management, responsible research and innovation, and open peer review. The content will be co-developed with disciplinary partners in the life sciences, social sciences and humanities.
  • Face-to-face training and workshops: a train-the-trainer bootcamp will equip young high potential researchers to deliver courses on open science within their own institution or discipline.
