2021 LIBER Meeting of Participants
Today, the annual LIBER Meeting of Participants concluded after its official opening on the 14th of June. A big thank you to all LIBER Participants who took part in the online voting — an important annual procedure forming part of the meeting.
As a result of your participation, the following agenda items were approved:
- The Minutes of last year’s Meeting of Participants, which took place online on the 25th of June 2020.
- The LIBER Annual Account 2020 and Auditor’s letter
Another item on the ballot was the appointment of Honorary Memberships to five volunteers who have made important contributions to LIBER over the years. In recognition of their efforts, we are delighted to announce the following individuals as LIBER Honorary Members:
- Mr John MacColl, retiring Secretary-General (retroactive to 1 August 2020);
- Mr Benjamin White, Chair of LIBER Copyright and Legal Matters Working Group, (retroactive to 1 January 2021);
- Ms Trudy Turner, LIBER Quarterly Managing Editor (retroactive to 1 March 2021);
- Em. Prof. Raf DeKeyser, LIBER Quarterly Managing Editor 2012-2020;
- Em. Prof. Melvyn Collier, LIBER Quarterly Chairman of the Board.
In addition to these appointments, voters also decided on the composition of the LIBER Executive Board.
As such, we would like to congratulate our newest Board Members: Drs Anja Smit, who replaces John MacColl as LIBER’s Secretary-General, Dr Andrea De Pasquale who takes over the seat of Ms Agnès Ponsati Obiols, and Dr Jessica Gardner who succeeds Dr Bertil Dorch. A warm welcome to Anja, Andrea, and Jessica. We look forward to working with you and we are eager about your future contributions to LIBER. Added to this, we would like to thank John, Agnès and Bertil for their constant enthusiasm, knowledge, and efforts during their time on the LIBER Executive Board. You will be sorely missed!
LIBER Participants also voted to re-appoint four members of the Executive Board who have each completed terms of two years on the Board. We are happy to have the following members on board for another two years:
Lastly, this year’s Meeting of Participants concluded with the announcement of the location of the 2022 LIBER Annual Conference. On this note, you are cordially invited to next year’s conference, which will be hosted by the University Library of Southern Denmark and will take place in Odense from the 6th – 8th of July.
