The seminar took place in Utrecht , The Netherlands, from Wednesday, March 22, to Friday, March 24, 2006 . The pre-seminar tour starting in Gent, Belgium, covered libraries in Gent as well as in Brussels , Antwerp, Leuven and Maastricht on Monday and Tuesday, March 20/21. On Saturday, March 25, there will be an optional excursion to Delft Technical University Library, Amstelveen Public Library and Cobra Museum of Modern Art.

  • Monday 20 March

    Pre-seminar tour: Inviting Libraries, Inviting Buildings
    March in Belgium and South of The Netherlands

    Bus trip to Brussels ; visit to the Humanities Library, Université Libre de Bruxelles (architect: Art & Build Architects). Welcome by Jean-Pierre Devroey, Library Director and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Presentation of the Bibliothèque des Sciences Humaines by Christian Brouwer.

    Lunch at the Public Library, Permeke Bibliotheek in Antwerp, including a visit to the library.
    Presentation by the architect Paul Robbrecht on the refurbishing of the Felix Archive Antwerp.

    16.00-17.00 Visit to Library at the Fashion Museum (architect Marie Josée van Hee)

    19.30 Visit to Gent University Library (architect: Henry van de Velde), combined with dinner reception
